How to Fix Issues with Apps on a Moto G: Troubleshooting Guide

Performing a soft reset should be able to fix issues with apps on your Moto G device like apps that are constantly crashing. To do so, turn the phone off and on again. Then check if the apps are already working. If the issue persists, troubleshoot your phone further using the workarounds listed below.

Troubleshooting Issues with Apps on a Moto G

If your apps are closing by themselves after opening without warning or error, then this is due to a software issue in your Moto G. If the apps still crash constantly after performing a soft reset, clear the cache of your Moto G smartphone using these steps:

  • Clear Cache on yourMoto G smartphone:
    • Go into Settings > Storage and tap on Cached Data, then select ok to clear data.

    • Power off your Moto G, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back ON.
    • If that didn’t fix your problem, you have to determine whether the issue is with multiple apps or a single one. If the problem is with only one app such as Facebook, Instagram, Candy Crush or any other, uninstall the application from your Moto G, then reinstall it using the Google Play Store. If the issue is with multiple apps then proceed to the next step.
    • Make sure your Moto G is up-to-date in Settings > About Phone > System Updates.
  • If you’ve tried all of the above and still can’t run applications on your Moto G without encountering error messages, you should try performing a factory restore. For a complete guide on how to backup and restore your Moto G click here.
