Troubleshooting a Galaxy A50 that keeps freezing

Performance issues are often pretty easy to fix as long as the firmware of your device hasn’t been modified in any way. In this case, you may be able to make your phone run normally again after doing a couple of procedures. In other words, this can be one of those issues that occur every now and then.

With that being said, here’s what you need to do with your phone that keeps freezing…

First solution: Perform the Forced restart to fix phone that keeps freezing

Before doing anything, make sure to perform the forced restart because it is always possible that this problem is caused by a pretty minor firmware issue or glitch.

A forced restart is a simulated battery removal that will refresh your phone’s memory and reload all its apps and services. It will fix any minor firmware-related problems like performance issues that prevent you from using your phone normally.

Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
  2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A50 logo shows on the screen.

Once your phone has finished rebooting, try to see if it still keeps freezing and if it does, then move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Run your phone in Safe Mode

The purpose of this procedure is to find out if the freezes are due to some third-party applications. We all know that there are apps that will cause the phone to not work normally and that can be the case here.

Galaxy A50 safe mode

By running your phone in safe mode, you’re temporarily disabling all third-party applications. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Press and hold the Power key until options show.
  2. Tap and hold the Power off option until it changes into Safe Mode.
  3. Tap the Safe mode icon to restart your device.
  4. Once the reboot is successful, you should see ‘Safe mode’ at the lower-left corner of the screen.

If your Galaxy A50 does not keep on freezing while in safe mode, then it means that there really is an app that’s triggering the issue. Follow these steps to probe further:

  1. Restart your phone normal to boot into standard mode.
  2. Remember the apps you installed about the time when the phone starts to keep freezing.
  3. Once you already have an app in mind, swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  4. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  5. Scroll to and then tap Apps.
  6. Find and tap suspected app.
  7. Tap Storage.
  8. Touch Clear data and tap OK to confirm.
  9. Tap the back key once and then touch Uninstall.
  10. Confirm that you want to remove the app from your phone.

However, if your Galaxy A50 still keeps freezing even in safe mode, then you have to try doing the next procedure.

Third solution: Reset all settings on your phone

Resetting all settings will bring the phone back to its factory settings without deleting your personal files and data.

In other words, this procedure has an effect of a reset but you don’t have to go through the hassle of creating a backup of your files and data. It’s safe and very effective, and here’s how it’s done:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and tap General management.
  4. Touch Reset.
  5. Tap Reset settings.
  6. Tap the Reset settings button.
  7. If prompted, enter your PIN, Password or Pattern.
  8. Finally, tap Reset.

After this, try to see if your phone still keeps freezing because if it does, then the problem could be with the firmware.

Fourth solution: Delete the old system cache

The next thing you have to do if the preceding procedures failed to fix the problem is to delete the old system cache so that it will be replaced with a new one.
