Troubleshooting a Galaxy A50 with ‘Twitter keeps stopping’ error
In troubleshooting a phone with this kind of problem, you need to be thorough so that you can accurately determine the issue and fix it at that level. It will also prevent having some important files and data deleted. With that said, here are the things you that you need to do:
First solution: Force restart your phone
The first thing that you have to do is do the forced restart because it is possible that this error is caused by a minor firmware issue or glitch. The forced restart is a simulated battery removal that refreshes your phone’s memory as well as reloads its apps and services. If it’s indeed an app problem, then this will fix it. Here’s how it’s done:
- Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
- While holding down the Volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
- Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A50 logo shows on the screen.
Once the phone has successfully rebooted, try to launch the app and see if the ‘Twitter keeps stopping’ error still shows up. If it does, then move on to the next solution.
Second solution: Reset the app to fix ‘Twitter keeps stopping’ error
The next thing that has to be done is to reset the app that’s crashing. A reset means to clear the app’s cache and data. If it’s a problem with the app, then this simple procedure will fix it. It will delete the app’s cache and data files and replace them with new ones. In other words, the app will be brought back to its default settings and configuration. Here’s how it’s done:
- Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
- Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
- Scroll to and then tap Apps.
- Find and tap Twitter.
- Tap Storage.
- Touch Clear cache.
- Touch Clear data and then tap OK to confirm.
After this, try launching the app to see if the ‘Twitter keeps stopping’ error still shows up. If it does, then move on to the next solution.
Third solution: Uninstall Twitter and reinstall it
Doing this will remove the apps associations with other apps and the firmware. In other words, it will remove the app from your phone without a trace. After doing so, reinstall the app to make sure that you are using the most recent version. This is how you do it:
- Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
- Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
- Scroll to and then tap Apps.
- Find and tap Twitter.
- Tap Storage.
- Touch Clear data and tap OK to confirm.
- Tap the back key once and then touch Uninstall.
- Confirm that you want to remove the app from your phone.
- Reboot your device to release some RAM and refresh the memory.
- Once your phone has successfully rebooted, open the Play Store.
- Search for Twitter and then tap Install to begin the installation.
- Once the app has successfully been installed, tap Open to launch it.
If the ‘Twitter keeps stopping’ error still pops up, then move on to the next solution.
Fourth solution: Reset your phone
Most of the time you won’t be able to reach this part as app-related problems are often resolved in the second and third solutions but if for some reason the problem continues after doing those methods, then you have no other choice. A reset will always fix any app-related problems. However, you need to spend time creating a copy of your important files as they will be deleted. After the backup, remove your Google and Samsung accounts so that you won’t be locked out. Once you’re ready, follow these steps to reset your phone:
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
- When the Galaxy A50 logo shows, release all three keys.
- Your Galaxy A50 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
- Press Power button to select.
- Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
- Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
- When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
