Fix Mobile Data Issues on iPhone X

There could be a few reasons why your mobile data isn’t working on your iPhone X. What we want to do is try a few different solutions and see what works to help you get back your internet connection. Please note that this guide is to help you with issues in regards to mobile data (LTE, 3G). If you’re experiencing issues with your WiFi connection then click here.

The first thing we want to verify is that the issue is only with your mobile data and not your network connection. This means that you have service on your iPhone but no internet. The best way to test this is to make sure you can send messages or place calls. If you have no service follow this guide here instead.

The second thing to make sure of before we start troubleshooting is that your mobile data isn’t blocked by your network provider. Usually you’ll receive a text message if this is the case stating you’ve gone over your allocated data for the month, so we recommend checking your recent messages just to make sure it’s not a data block by your provider that could be causing the issue. If you haven’t used up your data for the month and see no indication of your data having been cut off, then let’s start troubleshooting your iPhone X!

Step one is to reset your network settings. What this does is reset your internet connection on your iPhone X and allow it to reconnect to your data network, most of the time fixing the issue without having to troubleshoot further. Here is how to do this:

  • Go to Settings > General > Reset and Select Reset Network Settings.Note: This will not erase anything on the iPhone. It will however remove your saved Wi-Fi passwords so you will have to reconnect to your Wi-Fi connections.
  • Your iPhone will restart automatically. If it doesn’t, then simply power it off then power it back on!

Once this is done test your mobile data on iPhone X once again by trying to load a webpage or app. Is it working now? If you’re still experiencing issues, let’s see if we can fix it by disabling your LTE:

  • Try disabling your LTE:
    • Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options
    • Switch “Enable LTE” to OFF
    • Go back into Settings>Cellular and make sure Cellular Data is turned ON

Now that you’ve disabled your LTE and made sure your cellular data is ON in your iPhone X, test your internet connection once again. If you’re still experiencing issues, check if there’s a configuration profile in your settings (this usually happens when you travel abroad and connect to a different Carrier before returning home). A configuration profile for a different Carrier can interfere with your mobile data connection:

  • Go to Settings > General > Profile

  • If you can’t find the profile option right above reset, or if there’s no profile once you click on it, then you’re in the clear and you can continue below. If there is a profile, then we have to delete it by tapping Delete Profile

If after verifying all the above you still are unable to connect to mobile data on your iPhone X, then that really only leaves us with two options:

  • Consider contacting your network provider to make sure there are no issues with your data access or any data blocks on your account. You can also check with Apple Support!
  • You can try performing a backup and restore of your iPhone with the help of this guide.

I hope that we’ve been able to help you fix the mobile data issues on your iPhone X device. We would appreciate it if you help us spread the word so please share this post if you found it helpful.
