Troubleshooting an iPhone with WiFi that stopped working after iOS 13
Network or connection-related issues aren’t really that serious. In this case, WiFi may have been working properly on your iPhone since you were able to download and install the iOS 13 update. And if that’s the case, then you can get this issue fixed in no time. That said, here’s what you should do:
First solution: Force restart your iPhone
If a problem like this occur without apparent reason or cause, it’s often due to a glitch. Most of the time, you can get it fixed by simply doing the forced restart. It’s a simulated battery removal that refreshes your iPhone’s memory and reloads all apps and services. This could be the only thing you need to do to fix WiFi that stopped working after the iOS 13 update. Here’s how it’s done:
- Quickly press and release the Volume Up button, and then quickly press and release the Volume Down button.
- The moment you release the volume down button, press and hold the Side or Power key until the Apple logo shows on the screen.
Your iPhone will continue the usual boot process and once it has finished rebooting, try to see if WiFi is now working. If it’s not, then move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Reboot your Network devices
Perhaps, the reason why your iPhone can no longer connect to your WiFi network is that your network devices, such as modem and router, may have failed. To rule out a possibility like this, it’s best to reboot them. After all, electronic devices need to have their memory refreshed as well. Here’s how you do it:
- Unplug your modem or router from the wall outlet or simply disconnect the power cord from the main unit.
- Leave it without power for a minute or two.
- After that, plug it back into the wall outlet or reconnect the cord.
- Wait for the device to become online and then let your phone reconnect to it.
Once you’ve finished rebooting your network devices, let your iPhone reconnect to the network and see if WiFi is not working properly. If the problem persists, move on to the next solution.

Third solution: Reset all the network settings on your iPhone
If the first and second procedures failed to fix the issue with your iPhone’s WiFi, then this may be just the answer. What it does is refresh all wireless connections in your phone including cellular data, Bluetooth and WiFi. It also deletes all connections so you can get the device reconnect to the network. Aside from that, resets all the network services on your iPhone. If this problem is just a minor issue brought by the recent update, then this will probably fix it. Here’s how it’s done:
- From the Home screen, tap Settings.
- Tap General.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the screen, and then touch Reset.
- Touch Reset Network Settings.
- If prompted, enter your security lock.
- Tap Reset Network Settings at the bottom of the screen.
Your phone will reboot after this and once the restart is finished, enable WiFi and allow your iPhone to reconnect to the network. It should be working properly now. However, if the problem remained, then move on to the next solution.

Fourth solution: Factory reset your iPhone
When it comes to fixing issues that occurred shortly after an update, a reset will be perfect. So, prior to the reset, make sure to create a copy of your important files and once ready, follow these steps to reset your iPhone:
- From the Home screen, tap Settings.
- Find and tap General.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the screen, and then touch Reset.
- Tap Erase All Contents and Settings.
- Tap Erase Now.
- If prompted, enter your security lock.
- Tap Erase iPhone at the bottom of the screen.
