Twitter keeps crashing on Galaxy S10

Based on experience, app crashing problems are pretty minor and most of the time you can fix them. With that being said, here are the things you can do about Twitter that keeps crashing on your Galaxy S10…

First solution: Force restart your Galaxy S10

The first thing you have to do is to refresh your phone’s memory and reload all its apps and services as the crash may be just a result of a minor firmware problem or glitch. The fact is many of app-related problems can fixed by this procedure and it’s very easy to do.

  1. Press and hold the Volume down button and don’t release it yet.
  2. While holding it down, press and hold the Power key as well.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy S10 logo shows on the screen.

Once the phone has successfully rebooted, open the app to know if Twitter keeps crashing even after doing this procedure because if it does, then move on to the next procedure.

Second solution: Clear cache of Twitter app

It happens so often that an app crashes because it cache got corrupted. The cache is just a small, temporary file that helps in making the app run smoothly. You can delete it so it can be replaced with a new one. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon.
  3. Scroll to and tap Apps.
  4. Find and then tap on Twitter.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Touch Clear cache.

After this, open Twitter again and see if it still keeps on crashing and try the next solution if it does.

Third solution: Reset Twitter app

The previous procedure replaces the app’s cache but this one will delete its data files and actually resets the app back to its default settings and configuration. You will be logged out of your account and it fixes the problem, you will have to log back in to use the app again. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon.
  3. Scroll to and tap Apps.
  4. Find and then tap on Twitter.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Touch Clear data and tap OK.

If Twitter keeps crashing still on Galaxy S10 even after this, then you will have to do the next procedure.

Fourth solution: Uninstall and reinstall Twitter

Most of the time I would suggest finding out if there’s an available update for the app but for this case, it’s better to just remove the app completely from your phone and then download a fresh copy from the Play Store. This will remove all the app’s association in the firmware and downloading a fresh copy makes sure you’re using the most recent version of the app. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon.
  3. Scroll to and tap Apps.
  4. Find and then tap on Twitter.
  5. Tap Uninstall and then confirm your action.
  6. Reboot your phone after the app is uninstalled.
  7. Once the phone becomes active, open the Play Store.
  8. Search for ‘twitter’ and tap Twitter.
  9. Touch Install.

Once the app is installed, it should work perfectly. At least, that’s what happens if the problem is only with the app. However, if Twitter keeps crashing on your Galaxy S10 still after doing this procedure, then the next solution will fix it.

Fifth solution: Backup your files and reset your phone

If the problem is with the app, then the first four solutions should have already fixed the problem. If you reach this step, then it’s possible that your phone has some firmware issues which you can take care of by doing the master reset. But before the reset, make sure to create a backup of your important files and data and then remove you Google and Samsung accounts so that you won’t be locked out of your device after the reset. Follow these steps to perform the master reset:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the Galaxy S10 logo shows on the screen, release all three keys.
  4. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  5. Press Power button to select.
  6. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
  7. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  8. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to restart the device.
