- Open the Messages app from the Home screen, to get started.
The Messages app icon is found among the main icons at the bottom of the Home screen.
- From the Messages main screen, tap the Compose icon.
This icon is represented by the bubble message inside a blue circle. Tapping this icon will open the text editor wherein you can type the message body.
- On the New conversation screen (text editor), indicate the contact details in the Recipient field.
You can input the contact's name or phone number of the recipient.
If the recipient is from your contacts list, enter the name then select the contact from the search result.
- After selecting contact as recipient, tap the Next button at the bottom right corner of the screen.
This will move the cursor to the message body section.
- Tap and hold the Microphone icon to begin recording your audio message.
The microphone icon is found among other icons beneath the Enter Message text field.
If prompted to give Messages app the appropriate permissions, following the onscreen prompts to continue.
- Utter or dictate your message to the recipient.
The microphone icon at the lower center of the screen indicates that your audio/voice message is recorded. You can also tap to pause, if necessary. Just be sure not to cover the phone's microphone.
