Fixing Galaxy S9 when unfortunately Facebook has stopped

I have personally encountered this kind of problem in the past and I can assure you that’s it’s not really serious of a problem. That is if the firmware hasn’t been modified in any way. If ever you encounter this problem with your phone, here’s what you need to do:

First solution when unfortunately Facebook has stopped : Force restart your Galaxy S9

When troubleshooting app-related problems like this, it’s best to begin the process with a simple forced restart. It is possible that the cause of this issue is a minor firmware problem or even just a glitch. These issues can be fixed by this very simple procedure as the memory will be refreshed and all apps and services reloaded. This is how you do it:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
  2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy S9 logo shows on the screen.

Once the device has rebooted successfully, try opening the app and see if Facebook has stopped error still shows up. If it still does, then move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Delete Facebook cache when Facebook is not working

There are times when app caches get corrupted and that could be the case with the Facebook app in your phone. When this thing happens, performance issues may occur and may result to app crashes like this and it just so happens that it’s a pre-installed app that’s having some issues. Deleting the cache will trigger the system to create a new one that could fix the problem.

So, follow these steps to delete the Facebook cache if Facebook has stopped

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and then tap Apps.
  4. Find and tap Facebook.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Touch Clear cache.

After deleting the cache, open the app and see if the error Facebook has stopped still keeps on popping up. If it still does, then move on to the next solution.

Third solution: Reset Facebook app when it has stopped

An app reset means deleting the data files which contains the app’s settings and users preferences. If it’s just an issue with the app, then this procedure will fix the problem and get rid of the Facebook has stopped error. Don’t worry, none of your posts, messages or pictures will be deleted. It’s safe data-wise but it’s also very effective.

Here’s how it’s done when unfortunately Facebook has stopped

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and then tap Apps.
  4. Find and tap Facebook.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Touch Clear data and then tap OK to confirm.
  7. It’s best to restart your phone to refresh the memory or release some used RAM.

After the clearing the data files, open the app and see if the Facebook has stopped error still shows up. If it still does, then move on to the next solution.

Fourth solution: Factory reset your Galaxy S9

As I said earlier, Facebook is a pre-installed application so you cannot uninstall it like other third-party apps. After doing the first three procedures and the Facebook has stopped error still shows up, the next thing you have to do is reset your phone. I am sure that this will fix the problem and any other app-related issues. However, make sure to create a copy of your important files and data as they will be deleted. After the backup, remove both your Google and Samsung accounts so that you won’t be locked out after the reset.

Here’s how you reset your phone:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the Galaxy S10+ logo shows, release all three keys.
  4. Your Galaxy S10 Plus will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  6. Press Power button to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
  8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  9. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  10. Press the Power key to restart the device.
