How to enable and schedule Night Shift on iPhone 11

Blue light can strain the eye and if you stare at your iPhone’s screen for several hours a day, the risk of having macular degeneration will increase. But Apple already had that in mind that’s why there’s a somewhat unknown feature on your iPhone that actually offers more than it may seem. That’s the Night Shift feature that’s located under Display & Brightness menu. Night Shift filters out blue light from sunset to sunrise or on a customized schedule to help you sleep better at night.

You can manually enable it or schedule it so that it will be enabled automatically at designated time.

How to Enable Night Shift Manually

There is no other way to enable Night Shift but through the Settings menu. Here’s what you need to do…

If you’d rather watch than read…

1. From the Home screen, tap Settings

2. Find and tap on Display & Brightness, then touch Night Shift.

3. Toggle the switch next to ‘Manually Enable Until Tomorrow’ to enable it.

You’ll see that the color of the screen will become more yellowish and warm. You may also adjust the temperature by dragging the slider to the left or right.

How to Schedule Night Shift

This will automate Night Shift. When set properly, it will make the screen conducive for reading at night without you doing anything.

1. From the Home screen, tap Settings

2. Find and tap on Display & Brightness, then touch Night Shift.

3. Tap the switch next to ‘Scheduled’. Now set the time you want Night Shift to be automatically enabled and time that it will be disabled. By default, it will be enabled at 10 PM and disabled at 7 PM.

The Night Shift can help you take care of your eyes. But aside from this feature, you should also enable Dark Mode if you’re keen on reading text at night or before you sleep.
