There are several reasons why you need to hide IP address on iPhone and one of them is so that ad networks won’t be able to track your activities and searches.
As you might already know, you are often targeted with ads depending on your search habits. So when you’re browsing the web, there are times when ads pop up offering you something that you’re more likely to buy or click.
In some ways, that can be a good thing but if you don’t want other people to know or have an idea what you’ve been searching online, then it’s better to prevent websites from giving your those pop ups.
One way to prevent that is by hiding your IP address on iPhone. The IP address is one of the factors that these ad networks use to know more about their users. Thankfully, Apple already had that in mind and gives us an option to actually hide our IP addresses.

Hiding your IP address on iPhone is pretty easy and straightforward. You don't need to change more settings to do so, provided that you're using Safari to browse the websites. Here's how you do it:
- To begin, Open the Settings app by tapping on the Settings icon from the Home screen.
This will show you all the settings in your iPhone that you can change.
- While on the Settings app menu, scroll to find and then tap Safari.
Doing so will route you to the Safari settings menu with all relevant settings and features.
- Find and then tap Hide IP Address from the given options.
You will then be brought to the next screen.
- On the succeeding menu, tap to mark From Trackers instead of Off.
With this option selected, online trackers are no longer able to view or access your iPhone’s IP address.
- Should you find the need to make your IP address visible again, just head back to the same menu and set the Hide IP address value to Off.
That should make your IP address reappear and become accessible to both online trackers and website cookies again.
- We also suggest blocking all cookies by tapping the switch next to the option.
This might affect your browsing experience for certain websites but that’s normal.
- Can VPN service also hide IP address on iPhone?
VPN services won't hide your IP address but they will mask it with a different one making it more difficult for trackers to track the location of the device. These kinds of services might be able to help you but in the long run, it's better to just use the IP blocker on your iPhone than a paid VPN service.
- Can my Internet Service Provider track my online activity?
Yes, it can. You have to remember that whatever connection you have on your devices at home, all the traffic from those devices will pass through the gateway of your provider. While they might not be able to know exactly what you do when you browse the web, they can surely gather data from your devices.
- Can iCloud Private Relay give you a new IP address?
iCloud Private Relay is a new internet privacy service from Apple. With this new private relay feature, users with an iPhone, iPad, or Mac and an iCloud+ subscription can connect to and browse the internet and in a more secure and private way using Safari. It won't give you a new IP address but it can help protect your privacy online. To further protect your privacy especially if you let other people use your iPhone, make sure to close the tabs when you're done browsing.
