How To Fix Facebook That Keeps Crashing on Google Pixel 5

In this troubleshooting guide, we will show you how to fix Facebook that keeps crashing on a Google Pixel 5. App-related problems are oftentimes easier to fix than any performance issues. But you may have to do a few procedures to make the app work again. Continue reading to learn more.

Even popular apps like Facebook have a tendency to crash from time to time, even if they’re getting updated regularly. Some Pixel 5 users are among the users who have encountered such a problem. But you don’t have to worry about it too much, because it’s often a minor issue and you will be able to fix it by doing a couple of procedures. Here are the solutions you can try:

First solution: Close Facebook and other apps

Sometimes, apps start to crash due to other apps that also use their services. But it’s always possible that the cache is caused by a minor problem with the app itself. So to rule out both possibilities, you have to close Facebook and all other apps that run in the background, and then open it again to see if the problem is fixed. Here’s how you do that:

  1. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and stop at the middle. You will then see the apps that are left running.
  2. Swipe up on each app to close them one after another.

After doing that, open Facebook and continue using it to see if it still crashes at some point.

Second solution: Force restart your Pixel 5

The next thing you have to do if Facebook continues to crash after the first solution, is to refresh your phone’s memory and reload all the apps and services. You can do that by performing the Forced Restart. This is how it’s done:

  1. Press and hold the Power key for 8 seconds. This will force your device to shut down and power back up.
  2. When the Google logo shows, release the power key and allow the device to continue the boot process.

After the restart, open Facebook and use it to know if the problem is fixed.

Third solution: Clear Facebook’s cache and storage

Clearing the app’s cache and storage will reset it, and if it’s just a minor app problem, this procedure will be enough to fix it. You don’t have to worry about any of your files or posts on your timeline as they will not be deleted. This is how you reset Facebook:

  1. Pull up the app drawer and look for Facebook.
  2. Tap and hold on its icon until the options menu shows.
  3. Tap the App Info icon.
  4. Tap Storage and cache.
  5. Tap Clear cache.
  6. Tap Clear storage, and then tap OK to confirm.

After clearing the app’s cache and storage, open it and then login to your account. If this doesn’t fix the problem either, then move on to the next solution.

Fourth solution: Uninstall Facebook and reinstall it

If the previous solution fails, then what you need to do next is to remove Facebook from your phone. Doing so will also delete all its installation files and data, which may have been corrupted. After that, download a fresh copy from the Play Store to make sure you’re using the latest version. Here’s how:

  1. Pull up the app drawer and look for Facebook.
  2. Tap and hold on its icon until the options menu shows.
  3. Tap the App Info icon.
  4. Tap Uninstall, and then tap OK to confirm.
  5. Once the app is successfully uninstalled, launch the Play Store.
  6. Search for Facebook, and then tap Install.
  7. Wait for it to be successfully installed, and then tap Open to launch it.

Facebook should work properly on your Pixel 5 now.
