Can’t Send or Receive Picture Messages on iPhone 6s

If you can’t send or receive picture messages on iPhone 6s, check first if your Apple ID is set as the default messaging option instead of your phone number. To do so, access Settings and select Messages. Touch Send & Receive and set it to your phone number. 

MMS feature is an old method for people to send or receive photos from their loved ones. It allows an exchange of media files, like pictures, to be sent via cellular data network or WiFi connection through the standard messaging app.

Workaround

The first thing to keep in mind when sending a picture message is that your Cellular Data needs to be on. If you have a data block setup with your provider or have your cellular data turned off, you won’t be able to send or receive MMS on your iPhone. Here are the steps to troubleshoot issues with MMS on your iPhone:

  • Check for your Cellular Data if you’re not using WiFi as your internet connection. Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data and make sure it is ON.
  • Ensure that MMS is enabled. Go to Settings > Messages and make sure MMS messaging is turned on.
    • If your cellular data is on and MMS still doesn’t work, perform a reset network settings.

  • If the issue persists, try deleting the conversation you have with the number you’re trying to text from iPhone, then try sending the picture.

If none of the step above fixed the issue, contact your network provider and check if your MMS services is active on their end. 

If everything is fine on their end, report this problem to Apple support. They might be able to provide you with official recommendations on who to deal with MMS problem on your iPhone.
