Even an entry-level smartphone like the Samsung Galaxy A10 should be able to run properly and smoothly. However, some owners reported that their devices already have poor performance after updating the firmware. Performance issues are, of course, firmware-related issues. Those who’ve encounter such problem can attest how frustrating it is to have a very sluggish device. That’s why it’s best to troubleshoot your phone immediately when you noticed that the performance deteriorated.
In this troubleshooting guide, I will walk you through in fixing your Samsung Galaxy A10 that has very poor performance or has become really sluggish. I will share with you the solutions we’ve been using to fix problems like this. So, if you’re one of the owners of this device, continue reading this post as you may find it helpful one way or the other.

Troubleshooting Galaxy A10 with poor performance
Performance-related problems can always be attributed to the firmware that handles how the phone may respond to commands. In other words, they’re always fixable no matter how they occur provided that the firmware hasn’t been modified in any way. If the poor performance started after rooting and installing a custom ROM for your Galaxy A10, then the best thing you can do is flash a stock firmware back and it should make the phone run smoothly. But assuming that the firmware is all stock and then this issue started, here’s what you should do:
First solution: Force restart your phone
At this point, we don’t know the reason why your phone is not working or not as responsive as it should be. But the thing is a minor firmware issue or even a glitch can also cause this kind of problem. Therefore, the first thing you have to do is refresh your phone’s memory and reload all its apps and services. You can achieve that by doing the forced restart or a simulated battery removal. Here’s how you do that:
- Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
- While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
- Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A10 logo shows on the screen.
Once the phone has finished restarting, observe closely to know if the poor performance is fixed. If it’s still sluggish or not working the way it should, move on to the next solution.
Second solution: Find out if it’s not due to third-party apps
Downloaded applications may also sometimes cause problems like this wherein the phone works so slow or not as responsive. But it’s hard to tell which of your apps is actually causing the problem. To address that, you must run your phone in safe mode to temporarily disable all third-party applications. This is how you do it:
- Press and hold the Power key until options show.
- Tap and hold the Power off option until it changes into Safe Mode.
- Tap the Safe mode icon to restart your device.
- Once the reboot is successful, you should see ‘Safe mode’ at the lower-left corner of the screen.
When the phone is already in safe mode and it’s working normally, then it means that there really is an app that’s causing the problem. Follow these steps to determine the culprit and eventually fix the problem:
- Restart your phone normal to boot into standard mode.
- Remember the apps you installed about the time when the phone starts to reboot by itself.
- Once you already have an app in mind, swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
- Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
- Scroll to and then tap Apps.
- Find and tap suspected app.
- Tap Storage.
- Touch Clear data and tap OK to confirm.
- Tap the back key once and then touch Uninstall.
- Confirm that you want to remove the app from your phone.
On the other hand, if the phone still has a poor performance or still responding so sluggish, then move on to the next solution.
Third solution: Reset All Settings
If you are like me who likes to tinker some settings to make the phone work the way we want, then you may have changed settings that caused this problem, especially if you’ve enabled the Developer Options in your Galaxy A10. It is difficult to determine which setting was changed so the best thing you can do about it is to reset all settings at once. This will bring all settings in your phone back to default. If it’s just a matter of incorrect in appropriate settings, then this should fix the problem.
- Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
- Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
- Scroll to and tap General management.
- Touch Reset.
- Tap Reset settings.
- Tap the Reset settings button.
- If prompted, enter your PIN, Password or Pattern.
- Finally, tap Reset.
Once the phone has finished the reset, try to see if it still has a poor performance. If it still does, then move on to the next solution and troubleshoot the firmware instead.
Fourth solution: Wipe the cache partition to fix phone with poor performance
A master reset will surely be able to fix this problem but before you do that, try to wipe the cache partition first so that old system caches will be replaced with a new one. Most of the time, this will fix firmware related problems that aren’t really that serious and this could be just one of those cases. Here’s how you do it:
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
- When the Galaxy A10 logo shows, release the keys.
- Your Galaxy A10 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
- Press Power key to select.
- Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
- When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
If your phone still has a poor performance after this, then move on to the next solution.
Fifth solution: Master reset your phone
A master reset is needed now that all other procedures failed to fix the problem. Before the reset, make sure to create a copy of your important files and data as they will be deleted. You may move them over to your SD card, computer or just upload them to the cloud. After the backup, remove your Google and Samsung accounts so that you won’t be locked out after the reset. Once everything is in order, follow these steps to reset your phone.
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
- When the Galaxy A10 logo shows, release the keys.
- Your Galaxy A10 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
- Press Power button to select.
- Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
- Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
- When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
