How to Fix iPhone 12 Connected to WiFi but No Internet

Have you ever noticed your iPhone 12 connected to WiFi but no internet access? You might wonder why it is happening with your new device and what you can do to fix it. Well, there’s no need to worry as this post will cover basic troubleshooting procedures that will help you address an internet access issue with your iPhone 12.

How to Deal with iPhone 12 WiFi connected but No Internet Access

Internet issues are always there and it could happen anytime. If you are trying to access the internet but to no avail, make sure that your WiFi connection is working. Test other devices and connect it to the same network. If it is able to connect, then you will need to troubleshoot your iPhone. But if other devices are not working as well, contact your Internet Service Provider and verify if they have an ongoing service maintenance on their end.

If your iPhone 12 is still not able to use the Internet service even when connected to a working WiFi connection, then follow the procedures that I have mapped out below.

First Solution: Reset your Internet Router/Modem

The first thing that you’ll need to perform is to make sure that this is not related to a router issue. There are times that the router will cause no internet access to certain devices only. Refreshing the router allows a faster connectivity and will remove minor glitches on its system.

  1. Press the power button on your modem/router until it powers down.
  2. While it’s turned off, unplug its AC adapter from the power source.
  3. Wait for at least 30 seconds then plug back in and turn it on.
  4. Allow the Wi-Fi signal indicator to be established and be stable.

After restarting the router, connect your iPhone 12 to your WiFi network and see if it can access the internet already.

Second Solution: Restart your iPhone 12 that has No Internet

If you haven’t restarted your phone yet, it is time to do that. This simple procedure allows a quick system refresh that might be able to fix the internet issue on your iPhone right away. You have two options on how you can restart your device.

Soft reset:

  1. Press and hold the Power/Side button and either of the Volume buttons simultaneously for a few seconds.
  2. Release both buttons once the Slide to Power off prompt appears on the screen.
  3. Drag the Power off slider to the right to turn off your phone.
  4. After 30 seconds, press and hold the Power/Side button again until you see the Apple logo.

Force restart:

  1. Press and release the Volume Up button quickly.
  2. Press and release the Volume Down button quickly.
  3. Lastly, press and hold the Side button for a few seconds until you see the Apple logo.

Once the phone has restarted completely, ensure that it has connected to your WiFi before testing the internet service if it is working fine already.

Third Solution: Reset Network Settings on your iPhone 12

There are times that we manually configured the network settings on our phone, like entering VPN information or using a WiFi network. However, they can be misconfigured and could easily affect the internet connectivity on our device. To make sure that proper settings are set for your network details, perform a reset network settings procedure as it will revert all network information to their default values and options.

  1. Access Settings from the Home screen.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Scroll down to and then select Reset
  4. Tap the Reset Network Settings option.
  5. Enter your device passcode once prompted.
  6. Then tap to confirm network settings reset.

Since the network settings have been reverted to their default options, you will need to reconnect to your WiFi network and enter the password.

Fourth Solution: Factory Reset your iPhone 12

Your next step if the issue persists is to wipe everything on your iPhone. Errors such as no internet access even when WiFi connected can be due to a software glitch. Factory reset would usually take care of software-related issues. Since this will wipe out everything on your device, make sure to create a backup of your important files via iTunes or iCloud.

Once backup has been created, here’s how you can factory reset your iPhone 12 connected to WiFi but no internet access:

  1. Access Settings from the Home screen.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Scroll down to and then select Reset
  4. Tap the Erase all contents and settings option.
  5. Enter your device passcode once prompted.
  6. Then tap to confirm all settings reset.

Set up  your phone once the reset has been completed. Then test out if the internet connection is doing fine this time.

Fifth solution: Perform a Recovery Mode Restore on your iPhone 12

If performing a factory reset did not help in fixing the issue, then it’s time to perform an advanced solution to address software glitches on the iPhone 12 that may have been halting the internet access. To perform a recovery mode restore, you’ll need to have a Mac or Windows computer with the latest iTunes installed with good internet connection.

Your computer’s software should be updated to ensure compatibility with your iPhone 12’s software. Once you have that prepared, connect your device to the computer using the Apple-supplied USB/lightning cable. Then allow iTunes to sync with your iPhone and backup files, if possible. Once the backup is secured, follow these steps to put your iPhone 12  in recovery mode and then restore iOS in iTunes:

  1. Press and release the Volume Up button quickly.
  2. Press and release the Volume Down button quickly.
  3. Then press and hold the Power/Side button once prompted with Connect to iTunes screen. Do not release the button when the Apple logo appears as you will need to enter recovery mode state.
  4. Once you enter the recovery mode, you’ll see either Update or Restore option.
  5. Select Restore if you want to reinstall and download iOS on your device without erasing data.

Do not disconnect your phone and keep it connected until the entire restore process is finished. Only disconnect your iPhone when you are prompted to do so.

Still have No Internet Access on iPhone 12 Connected to WiFi

If the issue persists up to this point, it is time to verify this matter to your Internet Service Provider and Apple support. If your iPhone is the only device that has no internet access to that WiFi network, then visit the nearest Apple service in your area and let their personnel check the device properly.
