Troubleshooting Galaxy A20 that won’t charge
There are times when a charging problem is due to a firmware issue but most of the time, it’s due to a failing hardware or accessories. In this post, we will try to rule them out one by one. That said, here’s what you should do:
First solution: Perform a force restart to fix Galaxy A20 that won’t charge.
Regardless of whether your Galaxy A20 powered off or not, this must be the first thing you have to do. This will rule out the possibility that this issue is just due to a minor firmware issue or glitch. It is a simulated battery removal that’s very effective against minor issues. It will also refresh your phone’s memory as well as reload the apps and services. Here’s how it’s done:
Time Needed : 05 minutes
While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
Keep both keys held together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A20 logo appears on the screen.

If your phone has powered down but turned on after doing this, then it’s a sign that the problem is fixed. Try to see if it’s now charging.
Second solution: Make sure the charger is plugged into a working outlet.
You have to check and ensure that the power adapter is plugged into a power source that’s working. The easiest way to do that is to plug an appliance into that same outlet and see if it works. We also recommend that you only use the original power adapter, especially when you’re troubleshooting a problem like this.
Third solution: Check the charger and cable.
The next thing you have to do is make sure that the port on the charger doesn’t have any obstruction of some sort. Look into the port and try to see if there are any lint or debris in it. You must remove any foreign materials that may have gotten in it. If it looks dirty, use a dry cotton bud to clean it up.
Aside from checking the charger, you must also check the cable for the same thing. Check both ends of the cable to see if they’re clean and that there aren’t any obstruction. Also, make sure the cable isn’t broken.
Assuming you found something in the port of the power adapter and you’ve cleaned it out, your phone should already be charging if you connected it. However, after making sure the problem isn’t with your charger or cable and your phone still won’t charge, then move on to the next solution.

Fourth solution: Check the charging port of your phone.
It is very much possible that the charging port of your phone is the problem. Use a flashlight to look into the charging port. Look for anything that doesn’t belong and fish it out. If the phone got wet at some point prior to this problem, insert a small piece of tissue paper in it and let it stay there for 10 minutes or so, to make sure the moisture is absorbed.
After making sure the charging port of your phone is clean and dry, try to reconnect the phone to its charger and if it still won’t charge after this, then try the next solution.
Fifth solution: Connect your phone to a computer or third-party chargers.
After doing those things and your phone still won’t charge, then it’s time to connect the phone to a computer. This will tell you right off the bat if the problem is with the cable or charger. For instance, if the phone isn’t detected and recognized, the problem could be the cable. If the phone is detected and charges slowly, the problem could be with the power adapter. You may use a third-party charger to replenish your phone’s battery after knowing that the problem is with the charger.
Is your Galaxy A20 still won’t charge?
After doing everything and your phone still won’t charge, then it’s time to bring it back to the store or to a local shop so that a technician can check it up for you. At this point, it’s safe to assume that the problem is with the hardware.
