New Samsung Galaxy phones allow you to adjust the lock screen settings to control notifications that you receive while your device is locked.

By default, notifications are displayed on the lock screen whenever they arrive when the phone is locked. To prevent your device from showing this content, you can adjust the notification settings.

And here's how it's done on the recently released Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 device.

  1. 1. Open the Settings app to get started.

  • Notification style – This option allows you to choose between Icons only or Details. Icons only show notifications in the form of icons while Details shows more information about them. You can also adjust the notifications’ transparency and auto-reverse their text color if needed.
  • Transparency – This option allows you to adjust the transparency of the phone’s lock screen wallpaper behind the notification. Just drag the slider left or right to meet your desired output.
  • Auto-reverse text color – Enabling this option prompts the device to automatically adjust the color of the notification text to ensure readability against the background.
  • Hide content – This feature allows you to hide notification content in the notification panel. This may come in handy if you don’t want others to read any notifications you receive.
  • Notifications to show – This option allows you to choose either Alert and silent notifications or Alert notifications only.
  • Show on Always on Display – This option lets you show or hide notifications with Always On Display (AOD) enabled on your phone. This option won’t take effect when your phone is on power saving mode as AOD automatically disabled with power saving enabled.

Notifications can be opened or dismissed straight from the Lock screen of your phone.

  • To do this, just double tap on the notification’s icon to launch the notification panel on the lock screen. While in the notification panel, tap the notification that you’d like to view or open. You can also unlock your device if needed.

Should you wish to dismiss a notification, just swipe the notification to the right or left until it disappears.

In some devices, particularly those with a screen lock set up, entering credentials will be required in order to view notifications.

App notifications can also be customized according to your needs.

And that’s it!
