What Does Reset Network Settings Do on an iPhone

Reset network settings will eventually delete any customized network settings on your iPhone. It resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings like APNs,  and VPN settings to its default values and configurations. That means that the original settings will be restored on your device.

If you’re ever having trouble getting service on your iPhone, have issues with your mobile data, have your iPhone stuck on “Searching” and can’t connect to the network, performing this procedure might fix the issue right away.

Performing this procedure is commonly observed during connectivity issues on iPhone such as No Signal or No Service error, Wi-Fi connectivity issues including weak to no Wi-Fi signal or slow internet connection.

You can also reset your network settings if you’re having troubles using the apps on your phone. If you are encountering app problems like apps closes on its own, apps crashing or apps not loading properly, this might resolve those kinds of issues.

I have mapped out the step-by-step process on how to reset your the network settings on your iPhone. Feel free to follow them and read further.

Note: This will not erase anything on the iPhone. It will however remove your saved Wi-Fi passwords so you will have to reconnect to your Wi-Fi connections.

How-to perform reset network settings:

    1. Go to Settings > General.
    2. Touch Reset.
    3. Touch Reset Network Settings.
    4. Confirm by tapping Reset Network Settings again.

You will then see the Apple logo and your phone will restart and try to reconnect to the network. Your network settings should be reverted to its default configurations.

Since Wi-Fi networks and password are deleted, you will need to connect to the Wi-Fi like the first time by entering your Wi-Fi password if your network is protected by it.
