How to Fix Mobile Data Not Working on iPhone 6

Solution

If you’re having issues accessing internet through mobile data on your device, here are some steps you can try to fix the issue:

  • Go to Settings > Wifi and make sure its turned OFF (If the issue is with your Wifi connection, click here to troubleshoot wifi issues).
  • Go to Settings > Cellular and make sure cellular data is enabled.
  • Enable and disable Airplane mode to refresh connections. To do that, follow these steps:
    • Access Settings from the Home screen.
    • Check Airplane mode. If toggle is currently turned on, tap on it to switch it off. If not, tap the toggle to turn it on.
    • While the Airplane mode is enabled, perform a soft reset on your device.
    • Wait for your phone to go back online after the reset then access Settings > Airplane mode. Tap the switch to disable the feature.
  • If your mobile data is enabled already, go to Settings > General > Reset and Select “Reset Network Settings”.  (For a detailed guide on how to Reset your Network Settings click here).

    Note: This will not erase anything on the iPhone. It will however remove your saved Wi-Fi passwords so you will have to reconnect to your Wi-Fi connections.

    • The iPhone will display the Apple logo and restart. Once the device is back on, test your internet connection by opening a safari page.

  • If issue persists, check if your iPhone 6 is running on an updated software version. Go to Settings > General > Software Update. If there is an available update, install it and check if it fixes the issue.
  • Your last resort is a factory reset. Be reminded that this will erase all contents on your phone, so make sure to secure a backup before you perform the steps below:
    • Access Settings from the Home screen.
    • Tap General.
    • Scroll down to and then select Reset.
    • Tap the Erase all contents and settings option.
    • Enter your device passcode once prompted.
    • Then tap to confirm all settings reset.
