How to Adjust Screen Timeout Duration on Google Pixel 7

This post will walk you through configuring the Pixel 7’s display settings to adjust the screen timeout duration interval. Here’s a quick guide to adjust the screen timeout duration on Google Pixel 7.

Estimate Cost : 0

Time Needed : 4 minutes

Modern smartphones have inbuilt screen timeout feature that you can use to automatically turn the display off after being idle for a certain period. Enabling this feature is one of the many helpful ways to save battery life in mobile devices.

By default, the Pixel 7's display is set to turn off and lock after 15 seconds of idle time. If the current screen time interval is too short for you to complete your usual phone activities, you can easily adjust the screen lock settings on your phone and set another longer option.

Depicted below is a step-by-step walkthrough on how to access and manage this setting on the new Google Pixel 7. Feel free to refer to this guide when needed.

  1. To get started, launch the Settings app by tapping on the gear icon from the Home screen or Apps tray.

If you want your phone’s screen to stay up a longer, choose a longer time interval. Otherwise, set it to a shorter, if not, the shortest. Setting the screen timeout duration to a longer interval is ideal if you’re aiming to preserve your phone’s battery life and keep it up and running until the next charge.

You can also enable the Screen attention feature so that your phone’s screen will not turn off if you’re looking at it. Just tap to turn on the switch next Screen attention from the Screen timeout menu, right beneath the screen time duration options. Screen attention uses the front camera to see if you’re looking at the screen.

How Screen Timeout works?

When the specified idle time is reached, the display turns off and then locks. To unlock it, you will need to press the Side/Power key or double-tap on the screen (if Tap to turn on/unlock is enabled).

You can also use Smart Lock to automatically unlock the phone while you’re carrying the phone on you like when it’s in your pocket or purse, when trusted locations or other Bluetooth devices have been detected.

  • To make your device work in this manner, you will need to turn on Smart Lock by heading over to Settings-> Security-> Advanced settings menu then tap the Smart Lock switch to enable the feature.

You can always disable the feature again if you don’t feel the need to use it.

And that’s how you adjust the screen timeout duration on the Google Pixel 7 smartphone.
