Troubleshooting Galaxy A20 with Twitter keeps stopping error

App-related problems are really not that serious, most especially if the app in question is a third party. However, when troubleshooting a problem like this, you really need to be thorough and I’m gonna guide you how.

First solution: Perform the Forced restart on your phone

It is always possible that this problem is caused by some minor firmware issue or glitch. That’s the reason why you need to perform this procedure before anything else as you might be saved from the hassle of doing all other procedures. What this does is refresh your phone’s memory as well as reload all its apps and services. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
  2. While holding down the Volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A20 logo shows on the screen.

Once the phone has successfully rebooted, try to open the app to see if the ‘Twitter keeps stopping’ error still shows up. If it still does, then move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Clear the cache and data of Twitter app

Clearing the cache and data of the app means resetting it. It will bring the app back to its default settings and configuration. If this is just one of those minor app issues, then you should be able to make Twitter work normally again after this. Don’t worry, none of the files or posts will be deleted if you did this. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and then tap Apps
  4. Find and tap Twitter
  5. Tap Storage
  6. Touch Clear cache.
  7. Touch Clear data and then tap OK to confirm.

After doing this, try to open the app and see if the ‘Twitter keeps stopping’ error pops up. If it does, then move on to the next solution.

Third solution: Uninstall Twitter and reinstall it

There are times when app issues can be fixed by simply updating the app. However, there’s a more effective way to do that and it’s more thorough. And that’s to uninstall the application from your device to remove all its associations with other apps and the firmware, and then reinstall it to make sure you’re using the most recent version. This is how it’s done:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and then tap Apps
  4. Find and tap Twitter
  5. Tap the back key once and then touch Uninstall
  6. Confirm that you want to remove the app from your phone.
  7. Go back to the Home screen and then launch the Play Store.
  8. Search for ‘twitter’ and tap on it.
  9. Tap Install to begin the installation.
  10. Once the installation is complete, tap Open to launch it.

Most of the time, when it comes to fixing third-party app issues, this is as far as you need to go. However, if for some reason, the ‘Twitter keeps stopping’ error still shows up, then you have to do the next procedure.

Fourth solution: Backup your files and reset your phone

After doing the first three procedures and the ‘Twitter keeps stopping’ error still continues to pop up, then you have no other choice but to reset your device. A reset will always be able to fix this problem. However, you have to make sure that you create a copy of your important files and data as they will be deleted. After that, remove your google and Samsung accounts so that you won’t be locked out of your device after the reset. Once everything is done, follow these steps to reset your phone:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
  3. When the Galaxy A20 logo shows, release all three keys.
  4. Your Galaxy A20 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  6. Press Power button to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
  8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  9. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  10. Press the Power key to restart the device.
