Troubleshooting Galaxy S10 Plus with Snapchat keeps stopping error

When you’re troubleshooting an app that keeps on crashing, you have to be thorough so that you can accurately determine the cause and be able to formulate a solution for it. Here’s what you need to do:

First solution: Try to do the forced reboot

If this is the first time that you encountered this problem, it’s best to perform the forced reboot first as it might be just a result of a minor firmware issue or even a glitch. The forced reboot is a simulated battery removal and it will refresh your phone’s memory and reload all its apps and services. Here’s how:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
  2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy S10 Plus logo shows on the screen.

If Snapchat keeps stopping even after doing this procedure, then try the next one.

Second solution: Delete Snapchat’s cache

Every application has its own cache. It’s a small, temporary file that’s used by the firmware to make the app run smoothly. There are times when such files get corrupted and when that happens, app crashes may occur. To rule that possibility out, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and then tap Apps.
  4. Find and tap Snapchat.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Touch Clear cache.

If this doesn’t get rid of the ‘Snapchat keeps stopping’ error, then move on to the next solution.

Third solution: Clear the data of the app

Aside from the cache, data files are also being created for apps. These files contain user preferences and settings but they also get corrupted from time to time. That’s why it’s recommended to reset the app you often use every now and then. If this is just an issue with the app, then clearing its data will fix it. Here’s how:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and then tap Apps.
  4. Find and tap Snapchat.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Touch Clear data and then tap OK to confirm.

If this doesn’t fix the problem and the error ‘Snapchat keeps stopping’ continues to show, then it’s time for a more effective solution.

Fourth solution: Uninstall Snapchat and reinstall it

Uninstalling the app will remove all its files as well as its associations with other apps and the firmware. No traces of the app can be found after that. And reinstalling it will make sure you’re using the latest version. For app-related issues, this procedure is also very effective. Here’s how you uninstall it:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and then tap Apps.
  4. Find and tap Snapchat.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Touch Clear data and tap OK to confirm.
  7. Tap the back key once and then touch Uninstall.
  8. Confirm that you want to remove the app from your phone.
  9. Restart your phone to release some RAM.

Once the phone has finished rebooting, follow these steps to reinstall the app:

  1. From the home screen, pull up the app drawer.
  2. Find and then tap Google Play Store.
  3. In the search field, key in ‘snapchat’ and then hit search.
  4. Tap Snapchat and then touch Install.
  5. Once the installation is complete, tap Open.

I am confident enough that one of these methods will fix or get rid of the ‘Snapchat keeps stopping’ error. However, if for some reason, the error continues to bug you after all this, then you have no other choice but to reset your phone.

Fifth solution: Backup your files and reset your phone

At this point, a master reset is necessary to make Snapchat work perfectly on your Galaxy S10 Plus. However, you may lose some of your important files and data, so take a little time creating a copy of your files. After that, remove your Google account and then follow these steps to reset your phone:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the Galaxy S10+ logo shows, release all three keys.
  4. Your Galaxy S10 Plus will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  6. Press Power button to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
  8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  9. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  10. Press the Power key to restart the device.
