With Google's Family Link application, you can easily monitor your and/or your child's phone remotely and thereby impose screen time limits as needed. You can also set or add restrictions to Google services such as app approvals or content filters on the Google Play Store.

If you're wondering how to activate and use this feature on your new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, the following steps will help you get started.

  1. To get started, open the Settings on your phone by tapping on the Settings app shortcut icon from the Home screen or Apps screen.

Alternatively, you can launch the app through the quick settings panel by tapping on the gear-shaped icon located on the top-right side of the screen.

  2. In the Settings app menu, scroll to find Google from the given items then tap on to access the Google menu.

While in the Google menu, you will see a list of Google-related services.

  3. Scroll to find Parental controls then tap on it to proceed.

The Parental controls setup wizard will load up next.

  4. Read the quick overview of the service. It's basically telling you about how parental controls work when activated on your or your child's device.

Once you're all set, tap Get started at the bottom-right edge to proceed.

  5. On the next screen, you will be asked who will be using this device.

Review the message prompt then tap to mark your answer either child/teen or parent.

  6. On the succeeding window, you will be prompted to Install Family Link (if you haven't already).

Simply tap the Get Family Link button then follow the rest of the onscreen instructions to download and install the Family Link app on your phone.

Uses of Family Link

Google Family Link is the internet giant’s very own family parental controls service that enables parents to set parameters for their children’s Android devices.

Below is a list of the Family Link app’s main functions:

  • Help set digital ground rules for children and teens.
  • Set screen time limits, for day or night time device usage.
  • Allow or block specific apps.
  • Locate your child’s device in an instant.

As a family manager, you can manage your family group, create Google accounts for children, supervise your kids, and add another parent to help supervise your kids with Family Link.

Please note though that not all devices are compatible with the Google Family Link app. You can do a quick Google search to review the list of compatible devices for Google Family Link.

And that’s how you set up parental controls using Google Family Link on the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 smartphone.
