The inbuilt Secure Folder app on Samsung Galaxy phones allows you to secure your personal content and keep it hidden in your device. And this folder is made to be customizable by end-users.

That said, you can rename, change the folder color and use a different icon for the folder to appear totally different. And if you change your mind and want to put the folder back to its original appearance, all you have to do is trigger the inbuilt reset command.

Depicted below is the actual process of using this command on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip device. Feel free to refer to this guide if you need help removing all recent customizations you’ve made and restore the stock Secure Folder app to its original state.

  1. Open the Secure Folder app to get started. To do this, navigate to the Apps screen then tap the Secure Folder app icon.

On the following screen, you will be asked to enter the Secure Folder unlock PIN, pattern or password. Just provide the required credentials to proceed.

  2. While in the Secure Folder main screen, tap the three dots located on the mid-right corner of the Secure Folder app screen.

Doing so opens a side menu with a number of options.

  3. Tap Customize from the given options to continue. The Secure Folder app customization menu will load up next.

Here, you can find the options to create a custom app name, select a color or custom icon to use.

  4. On the top-right corner of the same screen, you will see the Reset command.

To erase all existing customizations and restore the Secure Folder back to its original default state, tap Reset.

  5. To save your recent changes and update the Secure Folder settings, tap Apply at the bottom-rightmost corner.

The default folder name, color and icon will then be restored and the Secure Folder app icon returns to its original appearance.

You can always customize the Secure Folder again at any time you want. Just repeat the same steps to head back to the app’s customize menu then make necessary changes to the folder’s attributes.

One of the benefits of changing the default appearance of the Secure Folder is to not make the folder somehow concealed as it doesn’t appear as it is. This therefore can make the folder unnoticeable by other people whom you grant access to your phone and thereby lowers the chances of any unauthorized access.

Aside from customizing the folder, you may also opt to hide from the Home or Apps screen so that it won’t be easily accessed through either screen.

  • To hide the Secure Folder, just head over to Settings-> Biometrics & security-> Secure Folder menu then tap to turn the Add Secure Folder to the Apps screen switch OFF. Read the warning prompt to learn what happens when you disable the switch then tap Hide to confirm action.

The Secure Folder icon will then be removed from the Apps screen. To access the folder, you can use the Quick Search function of your phone.

And that’s all about resetting the Samsung Secure Folder application on the Galaxy Z Flip4 smartphone.
