Don’t like the ads that are appearing on your apps? There’s a new One UI feature that can help you stop relevant and customized ads from showing up on your Samsung Galaxy smartphone. Read on for more detailed instructions.

One UI 4/Android 12 Feature to Delete Advertising ID

Android devices do come with a number of privacy features for users to activate when needed. Among these are those that are designed to customized ads or control ads rendering for Samsung phones.

In recent Samsung Galaxy smartphones, particularly those that are already running on the One UI 4.0 or Android 12 version, a new privacy feature to manage ads personalization on the device is added. This feature was formerly labelled “Opt Out of Ads Personalization” in Android 11 or One UI 3.

When Samsung rolled out the latest One UI 4 (equivalent to Android 12) version, the said option was altered with the new “Delete advertising ID” feature. This feature works the same as its predecessor and can still be accessed through the Ads menu under Privacy settings.

Activating this new feature will prompt apps to stop using the device’s advertising ID from showing personalized ads as your current advertising ID will be deleted.

The advertising ID assigned to your device serves as the basis for apps to show  you personalized ads.

If you’re wondering how to access and activate this feature on your new Samsung Galaxy S21, I’ve mapped out the updated steps as follows. You can use this guide as free reference, if needed.

Easy Steps to Enable Opt Out of Ads Personalization on Samsung Galaxy S21

The following steps are also applicable when activating the opt out of ads personalization feature on other Samsung Galaxy devices running on the One UI 4.0 or Android 12 platform.

However, the actual user interface may be slightly different given that screens and menu items vary between device models and service provider.  Just make sure that your device software is up-to-date.

Once you’re all set, just refer to these subsequent steps to access and manage privacy settings on your Samsung Galaxy S21.

Step 1: Open the Settings app by tapping on the Settings icon from the Home/Apps screen.

That should activate the One UI 4/Android 12 feature that will stop personalized ads from showing on your device. Some ads may still show up on some apps but these should no longer be as relevant or interesting to you.

Each app has its own settings so some types of ads may still be able to show up even when your advertising ID was already deleted.

How to get a new advertising ID?

The updated Privacy menu on the One UI 4 also offers an option for you to get a new advertising ID for your device.

Should you wish to get a new one, just follow the same steps to head back to the Privacy->Ads menu and then tap the Get new advertising ID option. Read and review the pop-up message and then tap Confirm.

That should allow advertisers to show you more personalized, relevant ads that will help support free content and services.

Note:

The Get new advertising ID option will only become available after deleting the current advertising ID assigned to your Galaxy phone.

Other Privacy Options to Manage Ads

Aside from opting out of ads personalization or by deleting advertising ID, there is also an option for you to reset the advertising ID on  your Galaxy S21. The feature is named Reset advertising ID.

This feature works by assigning a new set or random numbers to your Samsung phone so that the type of ads showing on your device will be revised based on the new system-generated advertising ID assigned to your device.

Simply tap the Reset advertising ID option from the Ads menu so that a new advertising ID will be generated for your device and for the apps to use from then on.

Note:

Resetting advertising ID does not delete permanently delete the advertising ID for your Samsung device.

And that’s all about activating the opt out of ads personalization and stopping interest-based apps from appearing on your Galaxy S21.

Hope this helps!
