Troubleshooting Galaxy A20 with Netflix keeps stopping error

The Netflix keeps stopping error is not a serious problem, especially if it started without apparent reason. In fact, a simple troubleshooting procedure may be able to fix it. With that said, here’s what I suggest you do about this issue:

First solution: Forced restart your device

The very first thing you need to do, especially if it’s the first time you encountered this problem is the Forced Restart. It’s a simulated battery removal that will fix any firmware-related issues as it refreshes your phone’s memory and reloads all its applications and services. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
  2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A20 logo shows on the screen.

Once the phone has finished rebooting, try to launch the app and see if the error ‘Netflix keeps stopping’ still shows up. If it still does, then move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Clear the cache of Netflix app

There are times when the cache of an app gets corrupted and when it happens, app crashes may occur. This could be one of those cases and so to rule this out, here’s what you should do:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and then tap Apps.
  4. Find and tap Netflix.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Touch Clear cache.

After this, open the app and see if the ‘Netflix keeps stopping’ still pops up. If it still does, then move on to the next solution.

Third solution: Clear the data of the Netflix app

This will reset the app back to its default settings and configuration. It also deletes all data files that may have been corrupted. In other words, as long as this problem is only with the app, this should be able to fix the problem. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and then tap Apps.
  4. Find and tap Netflix.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Touch Clear data and then tap OK to confirm.

Once the app reset is done, try to see if the ‘Netflix keeps stopping’ error still shows up when you open it.

Fourth solution: Uninstall Netflix and reinstall it

After doing the first three procedures and Netflix still crashes, then you have no other choice but to do this procedure. What you need to do is uninstall the app to remove all its associations with other applications and the firmware. After which, reinstall it to make sure you’re using the latest version of the app. Here’s how you do that:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and then tap Apps.
  4. Find and tap Netflix.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Touch Clear data and tap OK to confirm.
  7. Tap the back key once and then touch Uninstall.
  8. Confirm that you want to remove the app from your phone.

Once the app has successfully been uninstalled, follow these steps to reinstall it.

  1. From the home screen, pull up the app drawer.
  2. Find and then tap Google Play Store.
  3. In the search field, key in ‘Netflix’ and then hit search.
  4. Tap Netflix and then touch Install.
  5. Once the installation is complete, tap Open.

Most of the time these procedures are more than enough to get rid of the ‘Netflix keeps stopping’ error or any app crashes for that matter. However, if for some reason the problem continues even after this, then you have no other choice but to do the next procedure.

However, make sure to create a copy of your important files and data before the reset as they will be deleted. After the backup, remove your Google account so that you won’t be locked out. When ready, follow these steps to reset your device:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
  3. When the Galaxy A20 logo shows, release all three keys.

  6. Press Power button to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
