Messages Display in the Wrong Order on Samsung Galaxy S7

If your text messages aren’t displayed in the proper order in your conversations then this issue is usually caused by having a wrong “Date & Time” on your smartphone. To fix this problem you only have to set the Date and Time to “automatic”. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to do so:

  • Go to Settings > Date and time.

  • Make sure “Automatic date and time” and “Automatic time zone” are checked.

  • Test by sending new messages, and issue should be resolved. If the problem continues, delete the conversation history, and start a new one with the number you’re messaging.

If the issue is not fixed by ensuring correct date and time on your S7, try to perform reset all settings. This will erase all invalid configurations on the phone’s settings that may have been causing the display of messages not in the correct order. 

To do that, access the apps screen by swiping up or down on the Home screen. (Be reminded that these instructions will only apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.) Then go to Settings and select Reset settings. Read the info prompt and tap Reset Settings. Tap Reset Settings again to confirm your action.
