How to Hard Reset your Samsung Galaxy S6 Smartphone

To hard reset your Samsung Galaxy S6, turn it off. Then press and hold the Volume Up + Home + Power buttons simultaneously. Once you see the Samsung logo, release the power button only. Release all buttons once the Android recovery screen appears. Use the volume keys to navigate and the power key to select.

You may need to factory reset or hard reset your smartphone in instances where stubborn issues occur. Though it is effective in dealing with several smartphone issues, there is also a downside of this process.

Performing a hard reset will result in a total wipe out of your files and data. If you’ll need to resort to this process, it is advisable to backup your important files and data prior to performing the steps.

A more detailed solution about the reset process is provided below. Be reminded that the steps may have changed as Samsung is constantly updating their software and that may affect some of the options.

  1. Switch your phone off. If it’s frozen, remove the battery to turn it off then put it back without turning on your device.
  2. Hold down the Power, Volume Up and Home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds. Release them when the Android logo appears on the screen.
  3. To navigate through this menu, use the volume up/down buttons to scroll up and down and the power button to confirm selections.

Scroll down and select Wipe Data/Factory Reset.

  4. Scroll down and select Yes – Delete All User Data.
  5. Select Reboot System Now. The phone will then reboot to its factory settings.
  6. Your phone will now turn back on and you will have to set it up just like when you got it out of the box.

There are several ways to perform a hard reset on your device. What’s provided above is the hardware key process. You can also factory reset your Samsung Galaxy S6 through the settings menu. Just access Apps > Settings > Backup & reset > Reset device > Erase everything.
