Problem: iPhone 6S won’t load iOS, won’t boot up and keeps on restarting

Hi sir. I deleted 3-4 apps from my IPhone 6S 16GB to clear off some storage on the phone. I tried to download the Whatsapp application again but it was unable to download. So I help the power button and slided the screen slide to turn off the phone. After 20 seconds when I pressed the power button again the apple logo appeared for 10 seconds but then got switched off again. So basically the phone is not booting after the apple logo or not going ahead with the homescreen. I tried with the soft reset as well as putting the phone on safe mode checking on YouTube but it doesn’t go ahead after the logo and screen turns black after I switch on the phone. — Bhanushali.Swapnil

Solution: Hi Bhanushali. If your iPhone got stuck in this situation after attempting to install an app, then there may be a software glitch causing the problem. We assume it was not any way physically damaged. If it was, there’s a chance that the cause may be beyond your ability to fix. Hardware problems can’t be fixed by tweaking some software settings so you’ll have to let Apple take care of your iPhone for you.

However, if the issue is purely software in nature, you should be able to make your iPhone work again by booting it to DFU mode and then attempt a software recovery afterwards. This soluton requires a computer so be sure to have one. Also, be sure that it has an updated version of iTunes installed. If you’re ready, follow these steps on how to do a recovery thru DFU :

  1. In your computer, close all active apps.
  2. Open iTunes.
  3. Turn off your iPhone. If you can’t turn it off normally, let the battery drain to 0% so the phone powers down on its own. Charge the phone for at least an hour without attempting to turn it on.
  4. Connect your iPhone to the computer via USB cable.
  5. Press and hold the Power button for at least 3 seconds.
  6. Press and hold the Volume Down button on the left side of the iPhone while continuing to hold the Power button. Be sure to hold both Power and Volume Down keys for 10 seconds. If Apple logo appears at this time, repeat steps 5 and 6. Apple logo should not show at all.
  7. Continue to hold Volume Down key for another 5 seconds. If the Plug into iTunes screen is displayed, repeat steps 5-7. Plug into iTunes screen should not show up.
  8. You’ll know that your phone is in DFU mode if the screen remains black. Your computer should then tell you that iTunes has detected an iPhone.
  9. Follow the on-screen steps in your computer to do a full recovery.
