First solution: Reboot your iPhone.

Restarting your phone is one of the most basic procedures when it comes to dealing with minor software glitches. Doing so removes erratic apps that might have been affecting the device performance. This process also expedites the implementation of changes from the recent software update and refresh the system that may fix the stuck in headphone issue.

To reboot your iPhone, you may follow these steps to execute a force restart:

  1. Press and hold the Power/Side button and either of the Volume buttons simultaneously for a few seconds.
  2. Release both buttons once Slide to Power off prompt appears on the screen.
  3. Drag the Power off slider to the right to turn off your phone.
  4. After 30 seconds, press and hold the Power/Side button again until you see the Apple logo.

If soft reset did not fix the issue, there’s no harm on rebooting your phone again. But this time, perform a force restart instead. This provides the same benefits as the soft reset but differs on the execution. Here’s how:

  1. Press and release the Volume Up button quickly.
  2. Press and release the Volume Down button quickly.
  3. Lastly, press and hold the Side button for a few seconds until you see the Apple logo.

Just like the soft reset, force restart does not affect your phone’s internal memory so your personal information should remain intact. Just allow a complete reboot process and check if your iPhone is still stuck in headphone mode.

Second solution: Toggle Bluetooth switch off and on.

Just wait for the connection to be established then check if the headphone function returns to normal

Third solution: Remove all saved Bluetooth connections on your iPhone.

As you use your phone and connects to different Bluetooth-supported devices, those connections are being saved for a faster connection the next you’ll use or connect to them. However, they could incur connectivity errors inflicted by the recent software update that could result for relevant symptoms to occur. Settings may have been altered automatically by the recent software update, causing some invalid or incorrect settings to occur. These misconfigured settings can compromise certain functions including Bluetooth connections that is being used in headphone feature on your device. Performing an all settings reset will remove all customized settings including those being overridden by iOS 13 and revert them to its default values and options.
