What to do if Galaxy Note 9 can’t send MMS?
Based on experienced, when a smartphone can’t send MMS or picture messages, the problem isn’t really that serious. In fact, you may be able to fix it on your own by doing a few procedures. In this post, I cited several solutions, so try to see which one works for you…
First solution: Make sure the Flight Mode isn’t enabled
When the flight mode is turned on, all wireless communications are disabled and this could be the reason why your new phone can no longer send MMS messages. You will know if it’s enabled if there’s a plane icon beside the signal indicator.
Pull the Notification Panel down and tap the airplane icon. If it turns green, then it means that it was already disabled. But the thing is toggling the switch On and Off can sometimes fix network issues like this.
Second solution: Make sure your phone has reception
When it comes to wireless communications, signal is everything. So, if your device doesn’t get a good reception, you can expect that things like this would happen especially and MMS messages need a stable connection to the tower since you’re transmitting a large amount of data. Just simply looking at the signal indicator would tell you if the problem is due to bad reception.
If you’re in an enclosed environment and the signal is not stable, then you may only be able to use the service when you’re in an open area with good coverage. At least, this means that there’s really no problem with your phone.
Third solution: Restart your phone that can’t send MMS
After doing the first two steps and your phone is still not able to send MMS, restart it to refresh its memory and everything in it including the texting app you’re using.
- Press and hold the Power button.
- Tap the option to Power off.
- Tap Power off again to confirm.
- After about 30 seconds, press and hold the Power button again until your phone boots up.
Once the phone becomes active, try sending the MMS again and see if it goes through this time. If your phone still can’t send MMS after this, then try the next solution.
Fourth solution: Toggle mobile data Off and back On
Here’s one important thing you need to know when sending MMS or picture messages; mobile data needs to be enabled. If it’s already enabled, then try toggling the switch OFF and then back ON to refresh the connection between your phone and the network.
- Open the Apps screen by swiping on an empty spot from the Home screen.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Connections.
- Select Data usage.
- Tap the Mobile data switch to turn the feature ON or OFF. In this case, it has to be turned on so as to enable mobile data services on your device including MMS sending and receiving.
- If it’s already turned on, try to toggle the switch to turn Mobile data off for a few seconds and then tap the switch to turn it back on.
After this, try to send an MMS to your own number and see if it goes and if you can actually receive it. If the message is still not sent, then it’s time to refresh all network settings of your device.
Fifth solution: Reset Network Settings if your phone can’t send MMS
- Swipe up on an empty spot from the Home screen to open the Apps tray.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap General Management.
- Tap Reset.
- Select the option to Reset settings.
- Alternatively, you can try to Reset network settings to restore network defaults on your phone. It also helps especially if the problem is attributed to an incorrect network setting on your device.
- Tap Reset Settings again to continue.
- Enter your device PIN, if prompted.
- Tap Reset Settings to confirm settings reset.
It’s better to reboot your phone after doing this procedure. Once it becomes active, try sending an MMS and see if the problem is fixed. If the message is still not sent, then you try the next procedure.
Sixth solution: Call tech support or service provider
When it comes to network-related issues, your service provider is the best party that could help you. After all, they have all the information about your account or SIM card and tools that could help you fix the problem. It’s possible that the APN settings changed and the ones that are in your phone also has to be changed. Your provider can advise you about it. Also, they can give you more information if your account is barred from using the service or if you don’t have enough credits to do so. If there’s an issue with the tower in your area, they can also tell you the estimated time when the problem is fixed. And lastly, if the phone needs to be reprovisioned, they will be able to do it on their end.
