Turn Galaxy S10 Hole-Punch Camera Cutout Into Battery Indicator

Many users have been looking for ways to hide the hole-punch camera cutout on their Galaxy S10, and you really can’t blame them. But if you’ve been using the device for months, you will learn to accept the fact that it just won’t go away.

So instead of finding ways to ‘hide’ it, it’s better to find some other ways to make use of it. One of those ways is to turn the Galaxy S10 hole-punch camera cutout into a battery indicator.

In this guide, I will show you the things you need to do to make use of the hole-punch into something different.

How To Turn Galaxy S10 Hole-Punch Camera Cutout Into Battery Indicator

Samsung’s best efforts to try and hide the camera cutout was to make a few wallpapers. Good thing some developers out there have thought of different ways to make use of it.

That said, you will be installing a third-party application for this tutorial. Don’t worry, I have personally tried the app and it’s safe.

  1. Download and Install the Energy Ring App

Energy Ring is a third-party application that you need to install to turn the Galaxy S10 hole-punch camera cutout into a battery indicator. Developed by IJP, the app is offered free on the Play Store.

Step 1: Launch Play Store and search for ‘energy ring’ app.
Step 2: Tap Install and wait for the phone to finish installing the app.

When the installation is finished, you may open the app but it may not take effect immediately as it’s restricted by default.

  2. Enable Energy Ring service

Since the app works in the background the whole time, its service must be allowed to run. The service is located under Accessibility.

Step 1: Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap Settings
Step 2: Scroll to and tap Accessibility, then tap Installed services
Step 3: Tap Energy Ring and toggle the switch to enable it.

  3. Customize Energy Ring

After enabling the app’s service in Accessibility, you will be prompted to confirm if you allow it.

Step 1: Read the information about the app and tap Allow to confirm you want to run it.
Step 2: Depending on how much battery is left, you will immediately see a color around the cutout.
Step 3: Tap Settings and customize the indicator to your liking.

You may change the thickness, style and color.
