Getting rid of ‘Facebook keeps stopping’ error on Galaxy A50

I have personally encountered this problem in the past and what I can tell you is that, it’s just a minor issue with Facebook. There was a time when the app was crashing due to server issues and you would know if that happens when other users also complain about the same thing. Don’t worry, if this happens to you, there’s always something you can do about it.

First solution: Perform the forced reboot

Whether it’s an app or firmware issue, you must always begin your troubleshooting by doing the forced restart. It’s because the problem could be pretty minor and you only need to refresh your phone’s memory. Or since it’s an issue with Facebook, you may only need to reload all apps and services and may the app will work properly after that. So, follow these simple steps to force restart your device:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
  2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A50 logo shows on the screen.

Once the phone has successfully rebooted, open the app to see if the ‘Facebook keeps stopping’ error still shows up. If it does, then try the next solution.

Second solution: Make sure it’s an issue with your downloaded apps

While Facebook is always considered a third-party, it comes pre-installed on your phone, which means that it’s embedded in the firmware and you won’t be able to uninstall it without root access. Other apps, however, may cause pre-installed apps to crash every now and then. It could be the issue with your phone so restart your device in safe mode to see if the problem continues even after that. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Press and hold the Power key until options show.
  2. Tap and hold the Power off option until it changes into Safe Mode.
  3. Tap the Safe mode icon to restart your device.
  4. Once the reboot is successful, you should see ‘Safe mode’ at the lower-left corner of the screen.

While in safe mode, try to see if the Facebook keeps stopping error still shows up. If it doesn’t, then it means there’s a third-party application that’s triggering the error. Try these steps to probe further:

  1. Restart your phone normal to boot into standard mode.
  2. Remember the apps you installed about the time when the facebook app started to crash.
  3. Once you already have an app in mind, swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  4. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  5. Scroll to and then tap Apps.
  6. Find and tap suspected app.
  7. Tap Storage.
  8. Touch Clear data and tap OK to confirm.
  9. Tap the back key once and then touch Uninstall.
  10. Confirm that you want to remove the app from your phone.

On the other hand, if your phone still shows the Facebook keeps stopping error even while in safe mode, then move on to the next solution.

Third solution: Reset Facebook

We now have to troubleshoot the app you’re having problems with. If it’s just an issue with the app, then doing this procedure will fix it. What it does is delete and replace both the cache and data files of the app. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and then tap Apps.
  4. Find and tap Facebook.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Touch Clear cache.
  7. Touch Clear data and tap OK to confirm.

After doing this, open the app and try to log in if possible to see if the Facebook keeps stopping error still shows up. If it still does, then it’s time to troubleshoot the firmware.

Fourth solution: Delete the old system cache

The system creates small files that will help it make the performance better or smoother. These files are what we often refer to as cache and they’re prone to corruption. When the cache gets corrupted, that’s when performance issues may occur. Perhaps, the Facebook stops due to corrupt system cache. So, delete the cache so that it will be replaced with a new one. Here’s how you do that:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
  3. When the Galaxy A50 logo shows, release all three keys.
  4. Your Galaxy A50 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
  6. Press Power key to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
  8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Once the phone has rebooted successfully, try opening the app to see if the ‘Facebook keeps stopping’ error still shows up. If it still does, then move on to the ultimate solution.

Fifth solution: Reset your phone to fix ‘Facebook keeps stopping’ error

I can assure you that a master reset can fix this issue provided that the firmware hasn’t been modified in any way. However, make sure to backup your important files and data prior to the reset as they will be deleted and you may not be able to retrieve them after the reset. Once the backup is finished, remove your Google account so that you won’t be locked out and then follow these steps to reset your phone:

  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  6. Press Power button to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
  8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  9. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  10. Press the Power key to restart the device.
