Enable Instagram Dark Mode
Time Needed : 3 minutes
This post will cover both Android and iOS. But take note that only the phone with iOS 13 and Android 10 have the dark mode, and you must have the latest version of Instagram running on your phone.
- To enable Instagram dark mode on Android, open Settings.
You may pull the app drawer up and tap Settings or swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the gear icon.
- Find and tap Display.
The Dark Mode is often under the display settings.
- Toggle the switch next to Dark mode.
This will enable the high contrast interface on your device.
- Open Instagram.
You should see by now that Instagram is running on dark mode as well.
- For iOS users, tap Settings from the Home screen.
- Find and tap Display & Brightness.
The dark mode feature is also under the display settings in iOS.
- Tap Dark to enable dark mode.
This will also enable the high contrast color scheme on your iPhone.
- Now open Instagram, you shall see it’s also running in dark mode.
- Android, iOS
And that’s how you enable night mode on Instagram, although there’s no in-app setting for it.
Questions and Answers
At this point, we would like to answer the questions some users have been asking about such a feature.
Instagram supports dark mode but it doesn’t have a switch or setting you can toggle on and off. Instead, it relies solely on the device’s capability and features. If your phone runs on Android 10 or iOS 13, then you can enjoy using Instagram with a high contrast color scheme once you enable the native dark mode feature on your device.
Update your A50 to the latest version and you should see under display settings that it has a Night Mode feature. That’s the same as the dark mode on other devices. Enable that feature and then launch Instagram again and you should see the app adapts to the new color scheme.
No. A dark theme is different from the dark mode. For sure the interface will become darker but the apps don’t recognize it as dark mode so you will still have to use the usual Instagram interface.
That’s it for now, guys!
I hope that this simple tutorial has been able to help you and answer some of the questions.
