One way to manage spam calls is by blocking the numbers you don’t recognize. Fortunately, it’s pretty easy to do on an iPhone. You can block any contact you want anytime you want and you can also unblock them should you be ready to receive calls and texts from them again.
In this post, we are going to show you a few ways to block a contact on your iPhone through different menus inside the Phone app.

Block Contacts Via Phone App

You might have already noticed that your iPhone comes with the Phone and Contacts apps already installed. You can use both apps to manage your contacts or any phone number but let’s take a look at how to block a contact through the Phone app first. Here’s how it’s done:
To get started, open the Phone app by tapping on the Phone icon from the Home screen.
In most cases, it will bring you straight to the keypad.
Tap Contacts at the bottom of the screen.
This will show you the list of contacts on your iPhone.
Look for the contact you want to block and tap on it.
It will open the contact’s information.
Tap Block this Caller.
A small window will pop up at the bottom of the screen.
Select Block Contact to confirm you want to block it.

After doing that, the contact you selected will be added to the block list, thus, you won’t be able to receive text messages and calls from it.
Block Contacts Via Recents Tab
Aside from the Contacts tab, you will also be able to block a contact that you’ve recently interacted with. For instance, an unknown number called you recently and you don’t want to receive any more texts or calls from it, then you can find it under the Recents tab. Here’s how you do that:
Step 1: Launch the Phone app.
Step 2: While on the phone app main screen, tap the Recents tab. Doing so will display all recent calls you received including missed calls.
Step 3: Find the call or contact number that you’d like to block from the Recents list and then tap the information icon next to it. More details about the selected contact will appear on the succeeding menu.
Step 4: To add the selected contact number to the blocklist, tap Block this Caller.
Step 5: Read and review the pop-up message and then tap Block Contact to confirm.
The selected contact number will then be added to the block list and thus all future calls from this number will already be barred.
In case you’ve made a mistake and you aren’t supposed to block the selected number, simply tap Unblock this caller from the contacts information menu.
Block Contacts Thru Settings
Alternatively, you can block phone numbers and manage blocked numbers straight from the iOS settings menu of your iPhone. Here’s how:
Step 1: Open the Settings app by tapping on the Settings icon.
Step 2: While on the main Settings menu, scroll to find and then tap Phone. Doing so launches the Phone menu with relevant features and settings.
Step 3: Find and then tap Blocked Contacts.
Step 4: On the Blocked Contacts menu, you will see a list of all blocked contacts or phone numbers.
Step 5: To block a new contact or phone number, tap Add New then select the contact that you’d like to block from your Contacts list.
The contact will immediately be blocked the moment you tap on it.
Unblock Contacts On iPhone
You can basically unblock contacts by following the first procedure and tapping on Unblock this Caller. It’s as easy as that. However, sometimes you might have forgotten the name of the contact you blocked so it’s better to do it through the Settings where you can easily find the contacts that’s in your block list. So follow this procedure:
Step 1: Open the Settings app by tapping on the Settings icon.
Step 2: While on the main Settings menu, scroll to find and then tap Phone.
Step 3: Find and then tap Blocked Contacts.
Step 4: On the Blocked Contacts menu, you will see a list of all blocked contacts or phone numbers.
Step 5: To unblock a contact or phone number, tap Edit on the top-rightmost corner. Doing so activates the Edit mode for all Blocked Contacts. As a result, you will see a minus sign inside a circle appearing before each blocked contact and the Edit button appears on top.
Step 6: Tap the Minus icon next to the name of the contact that you’d like to unblock.
Step 7: Tap the Unblock button. The selected contact will then be removed from the list.
Step 8: To unblock another contact, just repeat the same steps.
Step 9: Once you’re done unblocking contacts, tap Done on the upper-rightmost corner.
That should remove the selected contact or phone number from the blocked contacts list. As a result, all future phone calls made by that contact or phone number are no longer barred and therefore should go through unless network or signal issues are transpiring.
